This culinary and cultural experience combines food, drinks, and history to serve the ideal welcome for travelers looking to dive deep into the flavors and aromas of Mexico City. It is the perfect combination between a walking food tour in one of the most beautiful traditional markets in the city, and a gastronomic workshop focused on one of the most important elements in Mexican cuisine: chilies.

The adventure begins with a visit to Mercado de Jamaica, one of the largest markets in Mexico City. Its history dates back to pre-Columbian times, when the city of Tenochtitlán was the thriving Aztec capital. Visitors will be fascinated by its size, the variety of colorful fruits and flowers, the diverse flavors and aromas, and the bustling everyday trade.

​The tour continues at La Flor de Jamaica, where we will hold a gastronomic workshop in a private, specialized studio. Centering on chilies and related products, you will take part in a unique experience of flavors and aromas, where you will taste dishes that will reveal the history and the mixed cultural background that has resulted in Mexican gastronomy as we know it today.

​You will make your own salsa in the traditional way with a stone molcajete, then enjoy your creation with a housemade snack and a sample of an artisanal mezcal. You will learn about and taste a very special, traditional and delicious mole from Oaxaca, followed by a unique sweet and spicy dessert enjoyed all over Mexico City.
